Bellinger River Cows

Saturday March 15, off to Darkwoood Road, Thora for Matt, Sarah and Heather’s housewarming party. Mostly locals there, and I mean local, from the valley, many living in communities – the spirit of the seventies alive.

A lovely sight, one Rubens and Constable painted, cows coming down to the river to drink, but it shows the lack of riparian vegetation, erosion and loss of habitat for native fauna.
At Marx Hill, a single file procession of cows passing beneath, each looked up, stopped for a while, then moved on, They were like clones. I presume they were coming back obediently from milking, but now they are often milked three times a day, I’m unsure . . .
