Sunrise /sunset
The largest canvas in the world, and one that changes continually. These were all taken on Thursday Feb 27,

Sunsets usually have darker hues, vibrant red, blinding gold and even purple.

I have mentioned this before. Claude Monet painted ‘Impression, Sunrise’ (Impression, Soleil levant) in 1872, and it is the oil painting that gave the name to the Impressionist movement. It was painted at Le Havre at dawn, but in later exhibitions was called ‘Impression, Sunset’ – strange how the two can be confused.

Turner often painted sunrise or sunset when the colours created by the sun are at their richest.
