23 Jan, birding Jagun
The start of the walk through Blackbutt, some Pink Bloodwood, Tallowwood is filled with the sound of Lorikeets, and the honeyed scent of Bloodwoods flowering.Further down is the realm of the Banksias and Bloodwoods are the honeyeaters, Scarlets, White-Cheeked, Silvereyes and Fairy Wrens in the lower bush. Then in the thick of the rainforest areas are the fantails and robins, and a goanna keeping a sharp eye on me. Today there are 27 species of these large lizards in Australia. This is the lace monitor or tree goanna (Varanus varius)
