National Threatened Species Day

National Threatened Species Day

On the night of 7 September 1936, the last Tasmanian tiger died in Hobart Zoo. With the death of this animal the thylacine species became extinct.

We have plenty of threatened and vulnerable ecosystems and fauna and flora here on the Mid-North Coast. See Beach Thick-knees.

What can I do to help threatened species?

A good place to start is by learning more about what is out there in our local area and then beyond. You can find out what conservation projects are happening in your area and if you can help. Find out more about Saving Our Species.
