Animals in art is a fascinating topic ranging from Aboriginal and European Neolithic Cave Paintings to ‘Young Hare’ by Albrecht Dürer (1502);  ‘The Kongouro from New Holland’ (Kangaroo) by George Stubbs (1772) to Damien Hirst’s ‘A Thousand Years’ (1990). Glass, steel, silicone rubber, painted MDF, Insect-O- Cutor , cow’s head, blood, flies, maggots, metal dishes, cotton wool, …It is an entire life cycle, from flies laying eggs in a severed cow’s head to maggots and then more flies to begin the cycle again – except for the ones zapped by the insect-o- cutor.
