Rare guest in the garden

Rare guest in the garden

The garden is wild with birds at the moment, three species of Lorikeet are here and noisy all day.

Rainbow and Flying Fox keeping an eye on me

One young Grey-headed Flying Fox who shouldn’t be here – their food trees are not doing well in the dry so they are in the gardens after callistemons etc.

They are not doing well generally – all four species – Black, Grey headed, Spectacled and Little Red are declining across Queensland, Victoria and here in NSW.

They are surprisingly important. Their pollination and seed dispersal help regenerate our forests and keep ecosystems healthy.
