Waterfalls of the World: Africa, South America, Valla Beach – Gumbaynggirr Country.
I’ve visited great waterfalls that divide countries, watched the Iguaçu River drop over the edge of the Paraná Plateau in a horseshoe nearly 3km wide (nearly three times wider than Niagara Falls). Stood over the muscular Devil’s throat, La Garganta del Diablo, where most of the river plummets down a narrow, semicircular chasm, and was soaked. Watched the performance from both Brazil and Argentina.
I explored the Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa-Tunya [Pron Moszy oh Tune-ia]- ‘the Smoke that Thunders’) The waterfall spans the entire breadth of the Zambezi River at one of its widest points (nearly 2 km), dropping the largest curtain of water in the world.
