Light distracts/attracts, firing up the trees on the edge of our garden (over 90% natives). Later, exotics in our Asian garden grab my attention.

Collecting my framed photographs of birds at Eddies, a young Red-bellied Black wriggles round the corner and slips down a drain. Two Bluetongues are waiting, one pregnant.
Back home, Pacific Bazas (Crested Hawks) are whistling. One appears overhead being mobbed by a Pied Butcherbird and a Channel-billed Cuckoo.

We head to Coffs., Wyn spots a turtle in the marina.
I spot the sun’s end, then a ute with rats cavorting with other small animals.

Night spotting in the Botanic Gardens is led by four lovely volunteers from Friends of the Gardens.
We spot a Squirrel Glider (just above the Bangalow seeds) (probably – tail hidden), then a Brush-tailed Possum, then the smaller Ringtail. I had only seen dead Ringtails in these gardens before, hanging from the talons of a Powerful Owl.
A UV torch provided a psychedelic surprise from lichen, and a millipede turns white.
