I saw a Kooka dive like an arrow onto the bank outside my study and crash into it then use its wings to beat down the grasses. The attack lasted about four minutes and ended with the bird carrying off the lizard.

I thought it was a snake, it was 50 cm long as thick as my thumb, pale brown with faint slot markings. Legless lizards evolved from lizards we are familiar with. Snakes evolved from a different branch of evolution.
