Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos

in our wattle

Male with pink eye ring keeping watch

We get flocks of almost a hundred flying around here. They are called storm birds because they often seem to appear in changeable weather.

A large flocks has been staying in this area of months now. Their favorite foods, banksias, hakeas and casuarinas are plentiful here. They also eat insect larvae inside the branches of wattles, and can rip a wattle to pieces.
